Summer is often a time when people think about fun, entertainment and celebrations. Warm weather supports outdoor activities. If you’re located in Minnesota, like Telamco, you probably look forward to the sunshine and warmth after a snowy, cold winter. When talking about membrane switches those temperature extremes sometimes cause concern.
Membrane Switches Fabricated with HeatSeal® Technology
Temperature extremes aren’t something concerning at Telamco. Our membrane switches are fabricated using HeatSeal® technology. This produces a hermtically sealed switch. The adhesive bond produced in the HeatSeal® process is superior to that of pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) construction found in other membrane switches. The HeatSeal® bond effectively seals out harmful environmental contaminants that can cause failure in standard PSA switches.
Because air neither enters nor escapes a HeatSeal® switch, external venting is not required even when subjected to changes in temperature or atmospheric pressure.
Testing was done to measure the peel resistance comparing a HeatSeal® spacer to a PSA spacer within a membrane switch. The PSA spacer experienced increased delamination starting at 50°C. The HeatSeal® components remained stable. Delamination creates integrity issues and can cause electrical failure.
Avoiding an electrical failure on a summer day when you’re supposed to be enjoying family and friends is preferred by most. A quality, long-lasting membrane switch impacts the function of products. At Telamco, we do our best to make your membrane switch will stand-up in extreme temperatures and harsh environments.
Ease your mind when the temperatures rise.
