The first week of October is Manufacturing Week in Minnesota. This is a time to raise the public awareness about the importance of manufacturing in our community, region and worldwide.
The Value of Manufacturing
Look around your envrionment and you’ll find manufacturing impacting your life daily. Think of the products you use at home, work and school. The car you drive, the hobbies you have, and the neccessities of our daily activities. Manufacturers build components large and small the we use all the time. Some are large, others microscopic. Telamco lives and breathes manufacturing. Not only do we make membrane switches, but we purchase items from other companies and sell our products to them as well.
Our communities depend on the products, services and jobs provided by manufacturing. These companies provide many jobs worldwide. That includes people on the shop floors creating the products – welding, soldering, assembly – it also requires engineers designing product, sales and marketing selling the products, accounting managing the finances, human resources hiring the right employees for each job. Every piece of the puzzle is important.
The first week of October may be manufacturing week, but it is important every day. Think about how many manufacturers are in your community right now. Big and small, you might be surprised at the quantity. Support manufacturers, but their products and consider a job in the industry if you’ve overlooked it. There are many opportunities. See what you can find.
