Membrane Switch Components

A membrane switch includes many components and has some features that are options. Here are some of the parts that make up a membrane switch:

Graphic Overlay – This is the front of your product, how it looks. We can use screen printing and digital imaging to create the graphic overlay. The button areas can have embossing to make them stand out and a variety of gloss, textured and anti-glare options are available.

HeatSeal® Technology – All Telamco membrane switches are fabricated using HeatSeal® technology which produces a bond that seals out harmful environmental contaminants.

Button Response – How the buttons work on the overlay in an important part in the function of membrane switches. Stainless steel or polyester domes can be used along with embossing to create appropriate tactile feedback for the application.

Lighting – Back lighting and embedded LEDs can be implemented to produce visual indicators, visibility and color variation.

Circuits – Screened silver, printed circuit boards and flexible printed circuits are found inside membrane switches. These are the brains of the switch device.

Back Panels – Once you have a membrane switch your design may require a back panel like this to hold it in place.
