2017 marks Telamco’s third year as a certified Women Owned Small Business/Women Business Enterprise. This certification is provided by the National Women Business Owners Corporation, and opens business opportunities with government purchasing agencies along with public and private corporations.
This certification is something Phil, the original owner, encouraged Tracy, his daughter and the current owner of Telamco, to work towards. Accomplishing the task provided Tracy and Telamco great excitement in 2015. Tracy shared the following information with friends upon receiving the certification.
As most everybody knows, my father passed away on December 13, 2013. On December 16, 2013, I became the new owner of the manufacturing business that he started in 1968. BIG changes for me!! One of the last things dad and I talked about was what it would take to become certified as a Woman Owned Business. After a lot of time, data collection and a Skype interview, I was approved this morning as a Women Owned Enterprise and as a Women Owned Small Business through the National Women Business Owners Corporation!!! Dad, I DID IT!!

Women Business Enterprise Certification Renewal Process
We recently passed the recertification process, and are glad the process is easier than the initial certification. The initial certification process took Tracy almost four months of collecting data and information. She filled a box and sent it to the National Women Business Owners Corporation for review, and completed an interview with them. They required things such as tax returns, board minutes, years of financial and banking documents, an organization chart, Secretary of State information, a history of the company, proof that a woman is a majority shareholder of the business and more.
The renewal process was simplified, only requiring tax returns and proof that the majority shareholder is a woman. The renewal was a success, so Telamco carries on the distinctions of a Women Owned Small Business and Women Business Enterprise.
