Graphic OverlaysWhen an engineer designs a control panel or related device they may reference the control buttons as a dome switch keyboard. When designing one of these keyboards the graphic overlay needs to be created with ease of use in mind. Make it intuitive for a user to know which buttons they need push to initiate actions. Contrasting colors, buttons shape and terms placed on the buttons can impact the ease of use. The graphic overlay is a one-piece covering with a curved button appearance.
Tactile Dome Button Designs
Deciding on appropriate button response for your dome switch keyboard is also important. If key actuation requires a tactile response, stainless steel domes, embossed polyester domes or tactile embossed graphics can be used to provide the contact ‘snap’ your design demands. Button actuation force can be varied depending on your needs. There are also times when an audible click is necessary, a tactile dome switch can help achieve that result.
