When Tracy, Telamco’s current owner, joined the company, Phil – Tracy’s father and the founder of Telamco, encouraged her to work towards getting Telamco certified as a Women Owned Small Business. She did that in 2015. This certification is provided by NWBOC, National Women Businesss Owners Corporation.
The NWBOC certification is accepted by corporations and government entities. This certification orgranization provides confirmation that companies truly are women owned. Gaining the certification included meeting numerous requirements. There was a lot of time and data collection involved, it took almost four months. Tracy also completed an interview with NWBOC. They required things such as tax returns, board minutes, years of financial and banking documents, an organization chart, Secretary of State information, a history of the company, proof that a woman is a majority shareholder of the business and more. To maintain this certification Telamco must complete yearly certification renewals which aren’t as rigorous, but still very important.
