This week there has been a lot of talk about the manufacturing industry as Minnesota Manufacturing week comes to an end. Today is also National Manufacturer’s Day. It is an industry that has a large impact on our economy and our everyday lives. There are many jobs, services and products linked to the demand and success of the industry. Telamco is proud to be a part of this economic component.
Minnesota’s Largest Industry
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development wrote an educational article about the manufacturing industry in Minnesota and how it is the largest industry in the state. Over 8,000 manufacturers exist in the state and they create over 300,000 jobs. That is a lot of people, jobs, and businesses.

The demand for skilled employees and quality product continues to grow. Encouraging the next generation to look to manufacturing for opportunities is important to future success and industry support. A wide variety of skills are needed such as welding, engineering, human resources, accounting, production, assembly, drafting, and a specific skill that is especially important to us at Telamco, soldering. Some of these skills are overlooked when people start searching for careers, but they are all extremely important to the sucesss of our economy.
Telamco’s Impact on Minnesota Manufacturing
Telamco is a manufacturer, but we also partner with others. Many of our customers fit into this industry and we also receive components from manufacturers. This economic sector is imperative to the products we build and distribute every day. Many people think of membrane switches when Telamco is mentioned. While membrane switches may seem like a small item there are many intricate parts to each product. Circuit boards, connectors, backlighting, LEDs, graphic overlays, metal back panels, solder, stainless steel and polyester domes – these are a few of the many products Telamco depends on to make sucessful membrane switches.
Skilled employees and quality products are important assets to our economy. Supporting manufacturing is important to Telamco, and crucial to our overall economy.
